Houston Sprinkler System Inspections
Sprinkler Pressure Vacuum Breaker Inspections
Texas Licensed Irrigator #4846
If you have a sprinkler system, you should have a backflow prevention assembly (Pressure Vacuum Breaker). The Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission water hygiene, rules and regulations for public water systems and the city of Houston plumbing codes, require this assembly to be tested upon installation, repair, or relocation and annually thereafter by a certified tester.
Your local city codes may now be requiring a yearly inspection of this assembly. Inspections confirm that these assemblies are functioning at the time of inspection.
Pressure Vacuum Breaker (PVB)
A Pressure Vacuum Breaker (PVB) assembly consists of an independently operating, internally-loaded check valve, and an independently operating loaded air inlet valve located on the discharge side of the check valve, with properly located resilient-seated test cocks and tightly closing resilient-seated shutoff valves attached at each end of the assembly (figure 4-16)
